The short answer
We install wallpaper year-round in Westview (33167), about 4 miles from our Miami Gardens shop. The wet summer, hurricane season and drier winter each shape material choice and scheduling, and steady AC matters in every month.
Westview is an unincorporated community in Miami-Dade County, ZIP code 33167, just about 4 miles southeast of our base in Miami Gardens. That makes it one of our nearest service areas, and it means we can respond to Westview homeowners quickly, whether the job is a single bathroom wall or several rooms. One question comes up here more than almost any other: when is a good time of year to put up wallpaper in South Florida? The short answer is that interior work can happen in any month, but the season does change how we plan, which materials we suggest and what we ask of you. Here is how the calendar affects your project.
November Through April: The Drier Stretch
Winter and early spring bring lower humidity and fewer storms. Indoor conditions are easier to keep stable, and walls that soaked up moisture during summer have time to dry out. This is the most forgiving window for sensitive materials like natural grasscloth, sisal and unvarnished papers, and for large projects such as whole-house installs or ceiling work that spans several days.
Because many people plan renovations for this period, calendars fill up. If you have a specific date in mind, especially before a holiday or family event, reach out early.
May Through October: Heat, Humidity and Afternoon Storms
The wet season is long, and the air outdoors is heavy almost every day. Wallpaper can still go up without trouble, but the inside of the house needs to stay cool and dry. We ask that the air conditioning run continuously, windows and doors stay closed and bathroom fans run after showers. We check every exterior wall with a moisture meter and wait if readings are too high.
Material choice matters more in these months. Vinyl and vinyl-coated wallcoverings tolerate humidity well and are our usual pick for kitchens, bathrooms and laundry areas. Peel and stick holds best on smooth, primed drywall in a cool room.
- Keep AC running before, during and after installation
- Close windows and doors while paste cures
- Run exhaust fans in bathrooms and kitchens
- Store unopened rolls inside, off the floor, in a cool room
June 1 to November 30: Hurricane Season
Hurricane season overlaps most of the wet months. When a tropical system is forecast, our main concern is power. Fresh wallpaper left in a house with no air conditioning for several days can soften, bubble or lift at the seams. If a storm is likely to hit around your scheduled date, we will suggest moving it. After a storm passes, we check that walls are dry before resuming, particularly on the outside walls of concrete block homes.
Being only a few miles away helps here. When the weather clears, we can get back to Westview quickly to finish.
Projects We Handle in Any Season
Weather affects timing and materials, but not what we can do. In Westview we install traditional and patterned wallpaper, accent walls, murals, grasscloth, peel and stick, vinyl wallcovering and ceiling paper. We also remove old wallpaper and borders and repair the wall afterward. Small business owners nearby can ask about commercial wallcovering for offices, salons and shops.
Removal and wall preparation are not seasonal at all, so some clients have us strip and repair walls during the summer and hang delicate natural materials once the drier months arrive.
Splitting a job that way has another benefit. Freshly skimmed and primed walls get weeks to settle and dry completely, and you have time to live with the bare surface, compare samples in your own light and make a final decision without pressure. When the cooler, less humid weeks come, the hanging itself goes quickly because the hard groundwork is already finished.
For smaller Westview projects, such as one bathroom wall, a nursery accent or a bedroom ceiling, season rarely matters much. A well-chosen vinyl or a properly primed peel and stick panel can go up in July just as easily as in January, provided the house stays cool and closed while it cures.
